… Nos remontamos a mediados de los 90’s, en ese entonces 3 chicos de 11 y 13 años tienen la iniciativa de empezar una banda pese a que no sabían tocar sus instrumentos y que llegaría con el tiempo a nombrarse "DESADAPTADOS", una de las primeras bandas de punk en toda Centro América y que posteriormente empezaría a fusionar ritmos jamaiquinos como el ska, rocksteady, reggae, entre otros.
NUESTRA HISTORIA:
La banda surge en la ciudad capital de Guatemala, debido al deseo de no quedarnos callados y manifestar así nuestras ideas y hacer lo que nos gusta hacer que es tocar, a nuestra manera y posibilidades (de una manera sincera). También por qué no, de divertirnos, de razonar, de contestar, de ser libres, de poder crear… Creemos que la música es una alternativa más de difusión, además de ser la expresión de nuestros sentimientos.
El nombre es una representación de nuestra fuerza de contracorriente, decidimos llamar al grupo "DESADAPTADOS", ya que es lo que mejor nos describe, pues realmente "desadaptados" somos nosotr=s que no estamos conformes, que nos gusta cuestionarnos y que no queremos ser un= más. Aquellos que mediante expresión cualquiera nos manifestamos contra la indiferencia y el silencio… Somos como realmente queremos ser y por ende no nos adaptamos a las reglas que impone la camisa de fuerza social, tenemos mucho que decir, basándonos en el respeto mutuo y la libertad.
Los temas de la banda son diversos, en su mayoría tratan sobre hacer y pensar las cosas por uno-a mismo-a, de tener voluntad propia, pero en gran parte son reflejo de la realidad que observamos y vivimos. Lo más extraño que puede pasar es que te identifiques con la visión del mundo que nosotros tenemos.
El grupo es totalmente independiente, ANTIFASCISTA y apoya incondicionalmente el "hazlo tú mismo". La banda no tiene ningún fin de lucro, ni de comercialidad y superficialidad alguna.
Nuestra "música" o "ruido" lo hacemos de corazón (razón por la que nos sentimos felices), pues no concebimos el hecho de ser una simple banda, ni que nos digan qué componer, cómo tocar y cómo debemos ser.
La banda ha tenido la oportunidad de tocar en diferentes ciudades como:
• San Salvador - El Salvador (2002, 2003, 2004, 2007)
• New York - USA (2002) en el cual se tuvo la oportunidad de ser la primer banda latina invitada a las "Punk Olympics en el legendario "CBGB", así mismo se tuvieron presentaciones en "ABC NO RIO", "The Greenlounge", entre otros lugares...
Desadaptados también organiza el reconocido y más grande festival (ska, reggae punk) de Centro América, el cual tiene lugar cada año en la ciudad de Guatemala y conocido como la "JORNADA DE KAOS" en donde bandas y personas de todo el mundo asisten al mismo.
En apenas unos años la historia recién empieza y se sigue escribiendo, aún falta mucho por hacer…
*THE BIGINNING:
We look back in the mid-90´s, back then 3 kids of 11 and 13 years old have the initiative of start a band although they didn’t knew how to play the instruments and that with the time they will get to call "DESADAPTADOS", one of the first punk bands in all Central America, and that later they will get to fusion Jamaican rhythms like ska, rock steady, reggae, among others…
OUR STORY:
The band emerge in Guatemala City, because of the desire not to stay quiet, we wanted to manifest our ideas, and make want we like that is to play to our way and possibilities (in an honest way) and why not to have fun, to think, to protest, to be free, to create… We believe that music is an alternative of diffusion, besides of been the expression of our feelings.
The name is a representation of our strength against the tide, we decided to call the band "Desadaptados", due to is the best to describe us, because truly "desadaptados" are the ones that are not conform, that like to reason and not be one more. The ones that through any kind of expression they manifest against the indifference and silence.
We are like we really want to be, we don’t adjust to the rules that impose the social straitjacket; we have a lot to say basing in mutual respect and freedom. Our name can be translated as "misfit"...
The topics are diverse, mostly are about do and think the things for yourself, having their own free will, but partly are reflect of the reality that we see and live. The weirdest thing that can happen is that you identify with the vision that we have of the world…
The band is totally independent, ANTIFASCIST and support unconditionally the "D.I.Y". The band is non profit or commercial. Our "music" or "noise" we do it with our heart (That’s why we feel happy) because we don’t conceive the fact of been just a simple band, or that someone tell us what to write about, how to play or how to be...
We are the same "Desadaptados" of yesterday, today and tomorrow.
The band has the chance to play in different cities like: • San Salvador - El Salvador (2002, 2003, 2004, 2007)
• New York - USA (2002) in wich we had the opportunity to be the first latin band to play in the "Punk Olympics" at the legendary "CBGB". Also we played at "ABC NO RIO", "The Green Lounge", among other places...
Desadaptados also organizes the well - known and biggest festival from Central America which takes place every year know as "JORNADA DE KAOS" to which Rude Boys-Girls, Skinheads, Punks and bands assist from around the world.
In just a few year the story is just starting and keeps writing, there is so much let to do…
